Maruti Suzuki sold 20 lakh cars

Maruti Suzuki India has created history by selling 20 lakh vehicles in a calendar year. This feat has been achieved for the first time at Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global production facility. The company’s CEO and Managing Director, Hisashi Takeuchi, called it the success of Make in India. He also praised the contribution of suppliers and dealers. The company aims to increase its production capacity to 40 lakh units. For this, a new plant is being set up in Kharkhoda, Haryana.

Maruti Suzuki India announced achieving this major milestone this week. For the first time, the company has sold 20 lakh vehicles in a calendar year. About 60 percent of these 20 lakh vehicles have been manufactured in Haryana and 40 percent in the Gujarat plant. Hisashi Takeuchi expressed happiness over this achievement and said that reaching the production figure of 20 lakh units shows India’s manufacturing capacity and reflects our commitment to the Make in India initiative.

A matter of pride for the Indian automobile industry

Let us tell you that Maruti Suzuki contributes about 40 percent of the total passenger vehicles exported from India. The company exports 17 different models to about 100 countries around the world. This is a matter of pride for the Indian automobile industry. Maruti Suzuki’s vehicles like the Swift, Baleno, WagonR, Brezza, Francox, and Ertiga sell very well in India.

A lot is happening to increase car manufacturing capacity.

Maruti Suzuki has three manufacturing plants in India. Two are located in Haryana (Gurugram and Manesar) and one in Gujarat (Hansalpur). The total production capacity of these three plants is 23.5 lakh units per annum. The company plans to further increase its production capacity to 40 lakh units per annum. For this, a new greenfield manufacturing plant is being set up in Kharkhoda, Haryana. The construction work of the Kharkhoda plant is going on at a fast pace. The first plant is expected to start in 2025. Its initial capacity will be 2.50 lakh units per annum. When fully operational, the Kharkhoda plant will have a capacity of 10 lakh units per annum. This plant will play an important role in the development of the company.
